Mixer on Saturday 20th September

The last Mixer of the summer was held on September 20th. About 30 members participated using all four courts. Some members sit and relax between sessions.

All the participants (and some who were not able to play during the day) enjoyed a great buffet meal at the Eagle Nest Restaurant.

The 3.0. ladies doubles league finished with a great party at Donna R. (right) house on September 16th. The ladies enjoyed getting together and reliving some of their experiences during the season. We thank you Donna for hosting the event.

Coordinators for September

Lynn N. was our coordinator for the month of September (left) for our Thursday tennis sesssions. She was unable to finish the month but was assisted by Nancy B. (right) for the last week.

We thank all our coordinators for the summer of 2008. We appreciate your time and dedication to our club.

During the month of October, the Thursday session will now become a "drop in" starting at 9:00 AM.

August Coordinator

Nancy, third from left, coordinated the Thursday morning tennis sessions for the month of August - and what a great job she did. She used a technique of playing cards to decide who would play with whom. Those taking a special card/color would meet up on a specific court, and "get going." Each session lasted about 40 minutes, and then cards would be drawn again and new teams positioned on each court. It was a lot of fun, and we thank Nancy for a job well done!

Battle at the Bend Photo Album

During the Battle at the Bend tournament last month, John Posluszny visited all four courts and took some fantastic photographs of the participants during warm up and play. He provided some great shots and since they are so varied...I asked if I could put them into an album for everyone to enjoy, and he kindly agreed. From May to September, coordinators volunteer to host the Thursday morning tennis sessions. The volunteer collects the sign up sheets from the bulletin board late on Wednesday afternoon, and then plans the following morning's tennis.

Carol was our coordinator for the month of July. This is always a lot of work and we thank her for doing a great job.

HEB Tennis Club Championships

The deadline is fast approaching for the HEB Tennis Club Championships. Please have your Entry Forms returned to the Front Desk by this Sunday, August 17th. If you don't have an Entry Form, you can get one at the Front Desk.

The matches will be played on Saturday & Sunday, August 23rd & 24th. If you would like to play, but have a conflict on one of those days, we can work around it. Just mention on your Entry Form what times you will be unavailable.

This will be a great tournament! We have Men's Doubles, Women's Doubles and Mixed Doubles. There are 3 levels, so no matter what your level, you can be sure to get some competitive matches.

We have quite a few teams registered already, so get your Entry Forms in ASAP. John Gibas is the Tournament Director, so you can be sure that the tournament will be great! You can enter with or without a partner. John will match you up with someone at your level if you don't sign up with a partner. We hope you join us in a great tournament!
